In retelling the story of the Samaritan woman at the well, Melissa pointed out the history of bad blood between the Samaritans and the Jews. The woman is only able to see what Jesus offers once the conversation moves from competition to mutual flourishing. Jesus wants everyone to have access to this living water.
On Anabaptist World Fellowship Sunday, she uses the example of the ministry of a pastor and church in Indonesia to reduce tensions through conflict resolution and transformation.
What is the world we want? What is the future we want to see? Jesus comes into the world refusing to negotiate and answer where one group flourishes over another. This living water is for everyone.
